How UGC Works - A Creator's Guide to Getting Paid Per View

A plain-language guide to how ugc.africa works for creators - how to join campaigns, post content, and get paid per 1,000 views without needing a large following.

There is a shift happening in how brands spend their marketing money, and it is creating an income opportunity that most African creators have never had access to before.

Brands no longer want polished studio ads. They want real people, real phones, and real social media accounts distributing their message at scale. They want posts that look like they came from a friend, not a marketing team. And they are willing to pay per view to get it.

That is exactly what UGC was built for.

This guide explains exactly how it works - from signing up to cashing out - in plain language.

What Is UGC?

UGC is Africa's human ad network. We connect brands who need their content distributed across African social media with everyday creators who post that content and earn per 1,000 views.

You are not being hired to create an ad. You are being paid to broadcast one.

The brand provides everything: the video, the caption, the hashtags. Your job is to download it, post it on your TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts, and submit the link. The platform tracks your views. Your earnings grow automatically.

No pitch. No negotiation. No follower minimum.

Step 1: Join the Waitlist and Get Early Access

UGC is currently in its early access phase. You join the waitlist at ugc.africa, and when your position comes up, you receive an invitation to the platform.

Your position in the queue is determined by:

  • When you signed up
  • How many people you referred (each referral moves you up 5 positions)

Once you are invited, you create your account and choose your role as a Creator.

Step 2: Set Up Your Creator Profile

When you first access the platform, you complete a short profile:

  • Your display name and country (African countries only at launch - Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana)
  • Connect at least one social media account (TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube)
  • Follow UGC on our platforms - this is part of onboarding and ensures you never miss a new campaign announcement

You also choose your KYC level. This determines your earning limits:

LevelRequirementsWithdrawal Limit
Tier 0Email + phoneBrowse only - cannot earn
Tier 1Phone verification + social linkEarn up to $50 per withdrawal
Tier 2Government ID + liveness checkUnlimited

Most creators start at Tier 1. It takes about two minutes.

Step 3: Browse Live Campaigns

This is the core of the experience. When you log in, you see a list of live campaigns from brands.

Each campaign card shows you:

  • The brand name and what the campaign is about
  • Which platforms you can post on (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts)
  • The payout rate - for example, $1.05 per 1,000 views
  • How many slots are still available
  • How long you have to post once you claim a slot

You choose the campaigns that fit your content style and your audience. There is no obligation to take any campaign you do not want.

Step 4: Reserve a Slot

When you find a campaign you want to join, you click Broadcast Now. This reserves a slot for you.

Slots are limited. When a campaign has 50 slots and they are all taken, no new creators can join until one expires. This protects you - if you reserve a slot, you are guaranteed to be paid for your views, as long as you post within the time window (usually 48 hours).

Once your slot is reserved, the clock starts. You will see a countdown timer in your dashboard.

Step 5: Download the Asset and Post

Inside your reserved slot, you find everything you need:

  • The video file (download it to your phone)
  • The caption template (copy it exactly, or edit it to sound more like you - more natural content typically performs better)
  • The required hashtags (these must be included)
  • Any specific instructions from the brand ("show your face," "use this sound," "post before Tuesday")

You post the content on the platform specified. TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or X - wherever the campaign allows.

Then you come back to UGC, paste your post link, and submit.

Step 6: Get Paid Per 1,000 Views

Once you submit your link, UGC begins tracking your views automatically. Every 6 hours, the system checks your post and updates your earnings.

How the calculation works:

If the campaign pays $1.05 per 1,000 views and your post gets 4,500 views:

(4,500 ÷ 1,000) × $1.05 = $4.73

You earn proportionally. 500 views earns $0.53. There is no minimum view threshold. Every view counts.

Your earnings accumulate in your UGC wallet. Once you cross the withdrawal minimum, you can cash out to your bank account, mobile money (M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money), or crypto wallet (USDT).

What Creators Actually Earn

These are realistic estimates based on current campaign rates ($1.05–$1.50 per 1,000 views):

FollowingPosts Per WeekAvg Views Per PostMonthly Earnings
800 followers2 posts1,200 views~$10
5,000 followers5 posts4,500 views~$95
20,000 followers4 posts18,000 views~$300
50,000 followers5 posts55,000 views~$1,650

For Nigerian creators at current exchange rates, $95/month is approximately ₦150,000.

These numbers assume active campaigns are available and that your slot fills. Earnings are not guaranteed - they depend on views your content actually receives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a lot of followers?
No. Campaigns on UGC do not require a minimum follower count in most cases. A creator with 400 followers can participate in standard campaigns. Higher-tier campaigns may set minimum thresholds, but the majority are open to everyone.

What if I get very few views?
You still earn proportionally. 200 views on a $1.05 campaign earns $0.21. It adds up across multiple campaigns and posts.

Can I post the same content on multiple platforms?
Only if the campaign allows it. Each campaign specifies which platforms are permitted. Some campaigns allow TikTok and Instagram Reels simultaneously. Others are platform-specific.

How long does payout take?
Once your earnings clear the release window (48 hours for standard, 24 hours for premium creators), they become available in your wallet. Withdrawal processing takes 24–48 hours from when you request it.

Is this real?
Yes. UGC is incorporated as UGC Ltd in Nigeria (RC 9299334). Payments are processed through Stripe, Paystack and Flutterwave. We pay to real bank accounts and mobile wallets. If you have questions before signing up, email us at [email protected].
