Why Was My Slot Rejected?

Common rejection reasons across standard slots and WhatsApp Status or Snapchat Spotlight two-step proof slots - how to fix your submission and when you can reserve again.

Common rejection reasons - all platforms

  • Wrong or missing disclosure tag - include #ad or #spons in your caption when the campaign requires it.
  • Post URL does not match - the link must point to your live post on the platform you selected (for link-based slots).
  • Asset not followed - caption, hashtags, or creative did not match the campaign brief.
  • Fraud or policy flags - duplicate URL, suspicious velocity, or trust-score hold.

WhatsApp Status and Snapchat Spotlight - specific rejection reasons

Because these platforms use a two-step proof process, there are additional reasons a slot can be rejected:

  • View proof uploaded too early - you tried to upload view-count screenshots before the waiting period ended. The app will prevent this, but if you find a way around it, submissions will be rejected. Wait for the countdown to complete.
  • Screenshots don't show view counts - the screenshots must show the actual view number visible inside WhatsApp or Snapchat. A screenshot of just the image/video without the metrics panel is not sufficient.
  • Post was deleted before proof was reviewed - if our team finds evidence that the post was already deleted when the screenshot was taken (e.g., timestamp discrepancy, or the content appears re-uploaded), the slot will be rejected.
  • View proof window expired - you didn't upload view-count screenshots within the review window after it opened. The slot status becomes Expired (not a staff rejection). Check My Slots regularly and watch for your reminder notification.
  • View count appears implausible - a very high view count on a newly-created account or an account with very few contacts may trigger a manual review. Build your WhatsApp contact list organically.

What to do next

  1. Read the rejection or expiry reason in your slot notification (or open the slot in My Slots → History).
  2. Fix the issue on your channel if the post is still live, or reserve a new slot from Discover and post again.
  3. Open an appeal from the slot in My Slots → History, or a support ticket, if you believe the rejection was a mistake.

Preventing rejections

For link-based slots: follow the brief exactly, include all required hashtags and disclosure, and submit within your slot timer.

For WhatsApp/Snapchat slots: complete both steps - submit to confirm you posted, then return after the waiting period to upload view-count screenshots. Set a personal reminder, or watch for the platform notification. Keep your Status or Spotlight post live until your slot is approved.
