Understanding Creator Tiers and Targeting

UGC creators range from New to Legend. Learn how to set eligibility requirements, what WhatsApp verification means for screenshot campaigns, and why targeting the right tier maximises your campaign ROI.

Creator levels on UGC

Creators progress through 5 levels (New → Rising → Star → Legend → Ambassador) based on campaign history, earnings, and trust score. Higher-level creators tend to have more engaged audiences and a lower risk of policy violations.

Setting minimum creator requirements

In the campaign brief you can set:

  • Minimum creator level (1–4) - only creators at this level or above can reserve a slot.
  • Minimum KYC tier (0–2) - controls identity verification depth required.
  • Minimum followers - optional; set a minimum audience size if reach matters more than engagement.
  • Content niches - target creators whose content matches your product (e.g. "lifestyle", "tech", "finance").

WhatsApp verification for Status campaigns

For WhatsApp Status campaigns, WhatsApp verification is an additional creator credential worth understanding. Creators who have completed Tier 1 WhatsApp KYC have verified an active WhatsApp number with UGC - which means:

  • Their WhatsApp Status reach is confirmed as a real, active number (not a dummy account).
  • They receive view-proof reminders directly on WhatsApp, making them more likely to complete the two-step proof on time.
  • Their profile signals stronger overall trust on the platform.

When creating a WhatsApp Status campaign, you can require WhatsApp verification as an eligibility condition. This reduces your risk of slots going incomplete due to undeliverable reminders or inactive creators.

Country targeting

By default, all creators on the network can reserve your campaign. Use the Country allowlist to restrict to specific markets. For WhatsApp Status campaigns targeting Nigerian audiences, restrict to Nigeria to ensure creators' contacts are in the right market. For diaspora campaigns (e.g. reaching Africans in the UK), open to both the origin country and the diaspora target countries.

Balancing quality vs. speed

Setting very high minimums may slow slot fill if fewer creators qualify. Start with moderate requirements (level 2+, KYC tier 1) and adjust based on results. You can always create a follow-up campaign with tighter targeting once you've seen which creator types perform best for your brand.
