Personalizing Your Clip, Earnings, and the Whale Cap

Why personalization is required (not optional) for Clip Campaign submissions, how CPM payouts work for clips, and why a per-slot earnings cap (the "whale cap") protects your ability to earn even when one clip goes viral.

Personalize every clip - it's required, not a suggestion

TikTok, Reels, and Shorts algorithmically suppress near-identical clips reposted by many accounts. That risk lands on your reach and earnings, not the platform's - so every Clip Campaign submission must include at least one of:

  • Your own caption or hook text.
  • A different trim/start point than the raw footage's obvious cut.
  • Your own overlay, text, or intro/outro.

This applies in both source modes - it matters even more in pre-clipped template mode, where the starting file is identical for every clipper.

Step by step

  1. Cut and personalize your clip (raw-footage mode) or personalize the provided template (template mode).
  2. Post it to your own account.
  3. Open your reserved slot in My Slots → Reserved and submit your post link as usual.

You earn per verified view, same as everywhere else on UGC

Clip Campaigns pay CPM (cost per 1,000 verified views) by default - the same view-tracking and payout engine that powers every other campaign type. There's nothing clip-specific to learn about how views are counted; see How Your Views Are Counted for the general mechanics.

What is the whale cap?

Every campaign has a maximum share of its budget that any single slot can absorb, even if that one clip goes massively viral. This protects the campaign pool from being drained by one lucky post, which means more slots stay fundable for other clippers on the same campaign instead of the budget running out the moment one clip blows up. You'll see the cap (if the campaign owner set a specific one) on the campaign's View Details page.

Why this matters for clippers specifically

Clip Campaigns have no follower minimum, so campaigns often attract many clippers cutting from the same source. The whale cap is what keeps the pool spread across clippers instead of one early viral post claiming the whole budget - it's part of why UGC's Clip Campaigns are worth clipping for, even if you're not the first to post.
